Year 6 SATS Information

Dear Year 6 Parents,

After two years of cancelled exams, the Government has decided that national testing will resume in 2022. For Year 6, this means the children will be assessed formally on the following papers (marked externally):

KS2 SATs dates

Monday 9 May 2022

Spelling, Punctuation & Grammar – Paper 1
Spelling Punctuation & Grammar – Paper 2

Tuesday 10 May 2022

English Reading

Wednesday 11 May 2022

Maths Paper 1 (Arithmetic)
Maths Paper 2 (Reasoning)

Thursday 12 May 2022

Maths Paper 3 (Reasoning)

Teachers will moderate the children's writing later in the year. This is not marked externally.

Year 6 teachers are constantly assessing and the children have already seen practice papers beforehand. The assessments are a culmination of the hard work of the children over the entire key stage.

We will run a 'mock SATs week' in March to help further prepare the children, but without putting undue stress on them. It will also help school staff to ensure that the actual SATs are carried out as per the guidelines, as these are very strict.

Mrs Barrie has prepared the below video to share some example questions and outline more information about SATs.

If you have any further questions, do please let us know.

Kind regards

Mrs Cook
