St Nicholas Church of England Primary School

Headteacher's Welcome

At St Nicholas School, we understand that children experience just one childhood and we care deeply that their time in our school should be rewarding, engaging and memorable.  Together, we nurture and develop the whole child academically, spiritually, socially, emotionally and physically.

As a Church of England School, it is important to us that our children have good morals, are respectful, kind and compassionate individuals, appreciate the wonders of God’s world and try to lead the best life that they can. By being respectful, responsible and resilient they can be courageous advocates of change and make a real difference in the world.

Staff and Governors are committed to enabling all of our children by providing a high-quality education, in partnership with parents. It is our hope and prayer for our children, that they thrive here and achieve their true potential. We want them to be able to challenge themselves and succeed in an atmosphere rooted in mutual respect, with high expectations for all.

We provide a nurturing and inclusive environment where all children have a voice, an equal opportunity to learn and succeed and know that their individual achievements will be celebrated. We develop strong relationships so that children make friends, feel safe and secure and can flourish.  We do this through our values of kindness, trust, courage, confidence, wisdom and curiosity; in a caring and supportive environment.

Through our exciting and well-planned curriculum, we fully utilise our impressive grounds and the local area. We have a range of extra-curricular opportunities, trips and visitors that bring learning to life. There are planned local links, for children to develop a contextual understanding of their immediate surroundings, as well as national/international links to ensure that our children become global citizens.

We also hugely value the importance of play in children’s lives, having introduced an Outdoor Play and Learning Project (OPAL), to enhance breaktime provision for all ages. If you watch our children in the sand pit or digging area, at the mud kitchen or building a den, scooting or go-karting, or wheeling around supermarket trolleys and suitcases, you will see how creative and imaginative they can be when given the right tools.

We are all immensely proud of our school, and welcome you to visit and see what makes us so special.
