Building and Maintenance Fund
Voluntary Contributions from Parents
At St Nicholas Church of England Primary School, we are very fortunate to have a large building and extensive grounds within which to deliver our children’s education. However, this is not without its challenges, and we want to ensure that St Nicholas remains a safe, welcoming and engaging learning environment.
As you may know, St Nicholas School is a Voluntary Aided Church School. As such, the school is required to contribute part of the cost of maintaining and improving our buildings to the London Diocese. We do not receive the same financial support from Surrey County Council as other schools do and, contrary to popular belief, we also receive no funding from the church.
For large building projects, we send bids to the London Diocese and, if successful, the Governors are responsible to fund 10% of the cost.
Past projects have included:
- remodelling Hallam block to provide individual toilets and additional rooms for learning
- building the canopy for the Early Years outdoor learning area
- replacing our main school building hot water and gas boilers.
As we have to fund 10% of all building projects ourselves, we ask parents to make a voluntary contribution to the Building and Maintenance Fund each year to ensure that these projects can go ahead.
The recommended contribution to the Fund is £72 per pupil per year
or £6 per month, although any contribution is welcomed.
