St Nicholas Church of England Primary School

Attendance

At St Nicholas School, we place high importance on regular attendance, as we know that every day in school counts. Consistent attendance supports not only academic progress but also the development of social skills, resilience, and a strong sense of routine. Children who attend school regularly are more likely to succeed and make the most of the educational opportunities available to them.

To support good attendance, we monitor every pupil’s attendance on a monthly basis. If a child's attendance falls below 90%, we begin a process of communication and support to help identify any issues and work in partnership with families. This includes sending a formal attendance letter via email, following a clear step-by-step process (which you can view in the flowchart below). Our aim is always to support families early, before attendance concerns become more serious.
