Parent Teacher Association
Who are the St Nicholas PTA?
The St Nicholas PTA is a group of friendly and enthusiastic parents and teachers associated with the school whose role is to work together to raise valuable funds for the school. All parents and teachers of St Nicholas are automatically a member of the PTA and everyone is welcome to get involved, even if they only have a small amount of time.
The Current Committee:
Chair – Joan Ritchie (daughter in Year 3 and son in Year 1)
Vice Chair – Cheryl Harman (daughter in Year 5 and son in Year 1)
Treasurers – Sarah and Dave Newbury (daughters in Year 5 and Year 2)
Secretary – Irina Court (daughter ex-pupil, now at Thamesmead)
What do the St Nicholas PTA do?
The St Nicholas PTA organise fundraising activities and events to help the school provide ‘extras’ for pupils. We do this through social events for parents and children, which include School Discos, Parent Quizzes, Santa’s Grotto, Christmas Cards, Rag Bag days and the Summer Fair.
How is the money raised spent?
The funds we raised in the last few years have been spent on the Friendship Garden, a new Wooden Gazebo, playground markings, PE bibs for the whole school, sound system improvements in the Main Hall including a new sound deck and hanging stage microphones, Easter Eggs for the children’s Easter Egg Hunt and Christmas Crackers for the children’s Christmas lunch. We have also helped to transform the outside Quad area into a very special place for the children.
Our next target is to fund a new adventure playground structure for the children.
We need you
Everyone has a talent or skill that could be put to good use with us. Playing an active role to help the St Nicholas PTA is a great way of making new friends and having fun whilst supporting the pupils. You can give as little or as much of your time as you want and there are plenty of other ways to help.
