Curriculum Music Lessons

At St Nicholas, music and performance is incredibly important to us and we try to make it a major part of school life.  We believe that children learn best when the curriculum has sufficient strands and cross curricular elements to inspire and motivate all learners.  Music is a powerful media which children enjoy enormously and we have devised a programme which we believe supports increased self-confidence and independence skills for our children.

We are fortunate to have a specialist music teacher on staff, Mrs Wells. She is a highly skilled musician and this greatly enhances our music curriculum.

In music lessons children learn the basics of percussion and  have opportunities to compose their own pieces of music.  There are many opportunities to perform, listen to others and critically appraise.  Children also learn about the different eras of music in music history lessons.  Click below to hear examples of their compositions.
